Tahini Lamb Burgers

I love Burgers. Of all kinds. I’ve even had an alligator burger before.

This is not that exotic, but it’s out of most people’s beef/turkey burger comfort zone. If you’ve never had lamb before, a burger is good way to experiment with this yummy meat option. Ground lamb is relatively easy to find, inexpensive (compared to lamb chops or leg of lamb) and burgers are simple enough for even the most “kitchen-challenged”. Just mix up the ingredients and toss them on the barbecue. Not to mention Summer is right around the corner and these burgers would be a fun way to impress your guests with an exotic meal!

Tahini Lamb Burgers

1 lb. ground lamb
1 shallot, minced
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. fresh parsley, minced
1 Tbsp. oregano
1 tsp. fresh mint, minced
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
pinch of red pepper flakes
small drizzle of olive oil

Tahini Sauce

1 c. tahini
2 c. water
2 lemons, juiced
3 mint leaves, chopped
salt to taste

  1. Let the lamb rest at room temp for 30 mins or so to remove the chill from the refrigerator.
  2. In a bowl, combine all burger ingredients in a bowl. Mix well. drizzle a little olive oil over the meat. Loosely form into patties.
  3. Heat grill.
  4. In a saucepan, add tahini, salt, and mint over medium heat. Stir until smooth and add water a half cup at a time and continue stirring until smooth.
  5. Once all water is added, heat the sauce on low until it thickens.
  6. Place burgers on grill. (time will depend on thickness and desired done-ness.)
  7. Top burgers with sauce and serve with yam fries or sautéed kale!
