I’m seriously stoked on the warm, wonderful weather we are having. Unfortunately, it does make for awkward tan-lines when you walk EVERYWHERE. I’ve got a legging tan-line, a shoe tan-line. A racer back tan-line and a budding shorts tan-line. That’s a lot of lines. Not super attractive but my body does appreciate the walks and the Vitamin D.
Have you seen this article? In a nutshell, it’s saying that doing a little burst of exercise DOES NOT make up for an entire day of sitting. Whether it be in the car, at work, or in front of the television… sitting is bad for you. Health experts (I use that term loosely) used to think that, regardless of the rest of your day, getting 30-60 mins of moderate-intense exercise was all you needed to be healthy. NOT TRUE. These new finding show that people need to be active ALL DAY LONG. Yup. All day. At least the equivalent of walking 4 miles a day.
Fortunately for me, I’ve been walking around 6-8 miles a day. And that doesn’t even include the times I’m just moving around my house cooking or cleaning, and it also doesn’t account for my usual hour or two of working out, be it yoga or Crossfit. I know not everyone has the time for such things, but try to move a little bit more in your day. Dance around during commercials. Take stairs. Park farther. These things may not give you six-pack abs or help you lose 15 lbs. but they will contribute to your overall health in the long run. Get out there and move your booty!
Also, eat your veggies! Preferably covered with Yum Sauce. This stuff goes great on anything! Salad, burgers, chicken, lettuce wraps…. enjoy!
Avocado Yum Sauce
1/2 avocado
1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp. coconut aminos
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 lime, juiced
2 green onion tops
1 garlic clove
1/4 c. water
2 Tbsp. olive oil
a handful of fresh cilantro
salt and pepper to taste
1. Blend and serve! (add more water if it’s too thick to blend, may depend on the size of your avocado.)
