Blueberry Avocado Smoothie

I usually go to yoga in the morning. Sometimes later in the morning, like 10 or 11 am. Which presents me with a problem. You never really want to eat before yoga. When you’re hanging upside down, the last thing you want is to feel your breakfast rising into your throat or your stomach cramping because you didn’t allow adequate digestion time. When I’m hungry and I know I won’t be able to eat breakfast till 11, 11:30 or 12, then I like to make a smoothie to tide me over. I keep these smoothies pretty low in sugar because I’ve found that when I drink things that are sweet, it creates a craving for more sweet stuff for the rest of the day. That’s certainly not the goal. My standard smoothie usually has unsweetened almond milk, some berries for sweetness and antioxidants, avocado for filling fat and a creamy texture, and some super-foods to make it as nutrient dense as possible. So you’ve been warned, this smoothie is not super sweet. If you’d like to make it sweeter, you could add a frozen banana or use some “Original” almond milk since it has a bit of sugar added. 1 c. frozen organic blueberries

2 c. unsweetened almond milk

1/2 avocado

handful of spinach

2 Tbsp. unsweetened nut butter

1 tsp. maca powder
 (optional) 
2 drops of vanilla extract

sprinkle of cinnamon

Blend and drink!
