Naturewell in Silverlake. This place is the inspiration for today’s post.
Here’s the dilemma:
I could drive to LA, navigate traffic, find parking on Sunset Blvd (not an easy feat), then pay $7.50 for a 20 oz. coconut kale smoothie OR I could make my own beverage in the comfort of my kitchen for a FRACTION of the cost. The most expensive thing in this ingredient list is the baby coconut which will set me back about $1.50 – $2.00.
I think the choice is obvious.
Coconut Kale Smoothie
4 leaves of dino (AKA lacinto, black) kale
1 baby coconut, water and meat.
1 banana, frozen, cut into chunks
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp almond butter (optional)
Will try this. I am a big smoothie buff but I dont know where to get a coconut. Will coconut water suffice?
Yes. The pulp really adds a nice flavor but you can use just water. Make sure it’s a good brand like Amy and Brian’s or the green “happiness in a bottle” one. They also have them with water and pulp sometimes.
